We Are Willing To Call Off The Strike say, Asuu.
The president of Academic Staff Union of Universities, professor Osedeke Emmanuel, says they are willing to call off the lingering strike over seven months since 14th of September 2022.
Professor Osedeke Emmanuel, said, this could only be possible if federal government reached concreted agreement with them.
Professor Osedeke Emmanuel, gave the assurance on Thursday at National Hall toun meeting on tertiary education tagged ” the locked gate of our citadel- A national emergency”, at Abuja. He further recalled the industrial strike the union embarked since February 14th 2022 leading to seven months without the government intervention for students to be in their various field of study.
The federal government recently sue Academic staff Union of Universities,over industrial strike, on these issues, we have given government minimum wages which includes area of revitalization, academic earned allowances of which they are part of negotiations meant to signed by federal government without taking a day.
On the area of UTAS and IPPIS , we say release the report of the test which was conducted to see which came first as they all agreed.
“We have given them our minimum of which the federal government are to implement if they are willing” he said.
Professor Osedeke Emmanuel, therefore reiterate the union’s commitment to return to school if federal government are willing to it’s proposal on table, saying the negotiations could be reached later if the federal government are willing “.
If federal government are love the country, students and parents, they should come to negotiating tables to resolved the lingering strike one day.
The Academic staff Union of the Universities, professor Osedeke Emmanuel express sadness over the lingering strike resulting federal government taking them to court which may result to worsening the existing issues. He said if the court force the lecturer to teach, they won’t do it with their open mind instead the students will be at the resulting ends.
Osedeke Emmanuel, also commended the committee of vice Chancellors and pro Chancellors for stepping on the issues to resolved the lingering strike over 14th of February.
He further state that parents should join to fight the government over the lingering strike instead of attacking the union.
